LITAF seat to go...where do I go from here?

Hi
I bought a "Seat to go" to attach to my single pushchair for my just turned 2 year old daughter. http://www.supercover.co.uk/Brands/Partners/Litaf.html It is the 2nd item down, although the heading on the site is wrong. The buggy board is advertised as different to normal buggy boards, because the child can sit down instead of standing. The site states "Unlike other 'buggy boards, ' the Seat 2 Go Buggy Hitchhiker offers an actual place to park your toddlers' botty together with a comfy footrest".
The reason I bought it, was because of this claim, as well as the fact that it was sturdy and robust.
Well, my little one stood on it initially, but one day when feeling tired, she sat down. She was holing onto the sides of the chair. When we croseed a road, she fell off the seat. It gave her such a shock, and fortunately she wasn't injured, and the road was clear!
The buggy board is being aimed at TODDLERS, when really it is more apprpriate for an older child, as it is NOT sturdy, and there is nowhere really for the toddler to hold onto.
I contacted Latif (in Isreal) and after a few emails, they finally responded stating that they never stated the above quote, and referred me on to Supercover. On several sites selling the seat to go, this statement is quoted.
Supercover say they will forward my comments to the desin team (in israel) and they hope my daughter was not too traumatised by the incident.
Several emails have gone backwards and forewards, but TBH, I am not sure where I stand. Supercover said to speak to ToysRUs for a refund. I no longer have the receipt. I stated that the reason I bought the board was because of their claims, and not ToysRUs, so I do not see how they would give me a refund, and I would not expect them to.
They then offered to contact ToysRUs on my behalf, and came back with
" As they have been unable to replicate the fault, Jacqui has requested if you can return the buggy board and the pushchair to the Toys R Us store for a demonstration." I do know how to use it correctly, and them demonstrting it isn't suddenly going to make it grow handles. (I might add that their latest model does have handles!!!)
I just need to know who I need to be chasing up in order to get my money back (£44) so I can buy a standard buggy board that my daughter will ride on - she won't go near the seat to go now!
I know my contract was with ToysRUs, but Supercover are the licenced distributers in the UK, and they are the ones who made the claims over it being for toddlers.
Sorry...that was a long one!!
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks

How long have you had it? How did you pay? Do you have a bank statement or credit card bill (may be irrelevant).
Dont expect t r us to give in easily, they are rubbish at Customer service sometimes. They dont even publish their own refund policy. It sounds like this item was "not fit for purpose" according to the Sale of Goods Act and It would legally be the retailers responsibility to refund you according to this- your contract is with them, but i see your point.
You would need to take the letter from Latif, denying they made that certain claim. You may be best to ring up and book an appointment to see the Manager. It sounds as though the item has been misdescribed/misrepresented by Supercover. What is worrying is that Latif dont want to confirm supercovers description. It is not required for them to forward your comments to Israel,is it.,Latif arent claiming its for toddlers. I think their continued describing of the item is potentially very dangerous- I would also go to Trading Standards, you might be doing a few kids a big favour. But some might disagree.
I bet pushchair manufacturers wont endorse use of this item either, and I would guess instructions on buggies may well exclude using these, and it reminds me that pramseats went out of fashion because they make prams unstable, but the child was strapped into those.
I suspect that if you asked supercover if they think it is suitable to use with one of the Cosatto buggies they make,or import, they might be evasive.0 -
Thanks for your response. I haven't even bothered with TRU, as I know what they are like.....and as it wasn't them that claimed it was for toddlers, I don't see that I have a case?
I feel that my complaint it with Supercover, as it is they who are the UK distributers, and their webstite makes the claim that it is for toddlers.
I have considered Trading Standards, but just not sure if this is the type of thing they would look at.
Thanks again. I will continue my battle.....0 -
Watchdog, they also cover safety issues ? I think you need to decide what you want to acheive.0

It odes say in the instructions that you shouldnt go down curbs when using the seat.
I had one for my dd when she was 2 and she was fine on it. I didnt go down curbs when crossing roads (and when I did, she got of it) and she never fell or hurt herself, it was always me getting bruises from using it.0 -

I used the slope to go onto the road, not the curb, and it was while we were in motion actually crossing the road!
She is a sturdy toddler, but as there is no where to hold onto, it is not sturdy enough......unless you are walking on a perfectly smooth road or pavement, and I have yet to find one of those!!
Their latest seat has handles, so they have obviously realised it needed them!
For my daughter to stand on. it was fine, but to sit on safely?? No way!0 -

Well, all I really want to achieve is a refund, as it is totally useless to me now. £44 is a lot of money wasted when you are on maternity leave.
They have improved their design by adding a version with suspension, and now another one with handles, so it would seem quite obvious to me that the model I have needed improvement!0
