    Gambia, for 6 hrs flying it's well worth the extra time as you are going to get fantastic temperatures and sandy beaches that outdo the canaries 100%

    yes, nearer home Egypt is the best option, forgot about that. Lovely beaches and nice and sunny, snorkelling at Taba

    Unless you are specifically after a beach holiday I would also recommend Luxor in Egypt. There are some lovely hotels with nice pools and glorious Nile views.
