Lark Lane for trendy eating and drinking, Albert Dock for people watching and galleries, Bold Street for unusual shopping, maybe catch a band at Zanzibar or Magnet, Babygrand for celebs, take a ferry ride, see the Three Graces, Sefton Park for lazing, the tiled room in Doctor Duncan's bar or the Philarmonic for elegant drinking, the Everyman Theatre (or its bar for a nightcap), both Cathedrals, the Chinese Arch...
I'm sure you'll find plenty to do! I persuaded (Scots) hubby to move down here and he loves it now! Have fun, L.0 -
If you go to the docks have a look at The Beatles Exhibition, it's really interesting, then go on a ferry across the Mersey - fantastic!0

A romantic weekend in liverpool? Surely you can find a much nicer part of england to visit! After living in liverpoo for three years, i can understand why people want to move down south lol. its not a very nice place!!
Chester maybe suitable for you, very nice area, peaceful, nice scenery.
Chester Crabwall Manor is a nice place to stay. around £75 B&B for a double room. The exterior and interior of the hotel are good, excellent cusotmer service and pleasant staff. The restaurant is has won a few awards. The food is good too.0 -

We are posh arnt we, I was going to send them to the Grafton :rotfl: .0 -
lol owey! Bigup - dunno what your personal problem is but it bears no relevance to the question that was asked. Telling someone to give it up and go to Chester is really constructive. Liverpool has changed a lot even in the year I've lived here and it can only benefit by losing people with your attitude.
Btw, places to stay, if you haven't yet booked - Feathers is a good budget place, fantastic brekky, and Adelphi is faded but good for a laugh.0 -
I agree with the previous posting, you must take the ferry across the Mersey.
We didn't think the Beatles Experience was good value. We did the 'Magical Mystery Tour' on the brightly painted 'Magical Mystery Bus' clapped out coach........it was brilliant.:D10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. I agree I thought we were talking budget here
I know a great chippy in stockbridge village and the Huyton arms does a mean packet of pork scratchings!!
big up - Chester is one big yawn compared to the fantastic city of Liverpool - sometimes when you live somewhere you stop doing the tourist thing and thats a shame.
Knowsely Safari Park can be fun scottish flower and if you do go over to chester at all then Cheshire Oaks is an amazing outlet centre which even has outlet jewellers for your ring!0 -
Both cathedrals are worth visiting, and the view from the top of the Anglican cathedral is fantatsic. If you want a good meal out in a nice bar/restaurant - but reasonably priced, Metro on Victoria Street is great, but get there early at the weekend (ie before 8pm). If you get a savaway train ticket, you can use it to get to Southport and it is valid on all buses around Liverpool too.0

Thanks all. We are staying at the Albert Dock 1 night, town centre 1 night, I didn't realise the dock is where the exhibition is.
I would like to "Ferry across the Mersey" & "Magical Mystery Tour". take it there's no deals around then?
I like the Adelphi & when used to stay in Liverpool with work used to opt for there rather than a soulless hotel. The Holiday Inn has more than made up the price of our flights this time tho'.
My darling OH is a weegie and has never been to Liverpool so it seemed a good idea. Did Chester with one of the steps and used to live in S Cumbria so the zoo was a common outing.
Can't wait to leave now.0 -
Did you check out the info I left on previous thread?
