Not a bad idea, but defeats the object. For Aldi & Lidl, I have collapsable plastic crates that I keep in the back of the car. The reason I get the disposable bags from Tesco etc is that I can then use these as bin liners, hence avoiding the cost of buying these - as such it would be pointless having a re-usable one for this. Unfortunately, Tesco have now cut costs on their bags so much that at best only half are in good enough condition for this usage. That said, they're now so weak that I only pack about half as much shopping in, hence need twice as many bags, so I guess it all cancels out and I should stop moaning....
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

Ive started rooting out all my plastic bags and putting them in one bag, ready for my next home project, the knitted plastic bag shooping bag! I thought about trying to put a design in there, but that would require me going out and finding all manner of plastic bag colours, so I reckon Ill stick with the white supermarket bag, and then the few odd colours will make a fetching stripe around the middle and an interesting handle. At least if I use most of my bags for a second purpose, I dont feel quite so guilty about it, and one day ill have enough bags to never get another one again!

For my big once-a-month shop I have 2 of those huge blue trolley-bags that Ikea sell for 50p each. I also have a frozen food bag from Lidl, and a number of the wonderful German shopping bags, which are either cotton or linen, and which they sell for the same sort of price that our supermarkets sell plastic bags.
Mind you, I am so mean that, on the occasions when I have forgotten to bring shopping bags with me, I have been known to just unload the trolley straight into the boot of the car - bit of a nuisance when you get home, though!
