Oh, and the bags without holes make great poop bags for getting rid of kitty litter tray stuff and taking on walks with the dogs - and im sure there are still a million uses for them! Oh - Hows about knitting them into a proper shopping holdall?? Anyone got a pattern??

LOL! That would be great, I'd make one and use it too
I've only just ventured into the world of Lidl (we don't have an Aldi nearby). I've been very impressed with their orange juice 33p per litre, yogurts about 15p each and McVities choc biccies (large pack) for 46p !!!0 -

I have a Lidl nearby but not an an Aldi as yet, they are talking about building one.
The nearest Aldi is about 8 miles away do you think it`s worth the trip? or should i stick with Lidl?April Grocery challange £175

I'd say it's probably worth the occasional trip. They each have their merits. E.g. whereas Lidl's diet cola is very nice, Aldi do good diet cloudy lemonade and diet cola with lemon/lime. I generally get sent to both.
The weekly "bargains" are different (see https://www.aldi.co.uk to check what they are/sign up for a newsletter) so it's often worth the drive.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
Tesco carriers are now more biodegradable so are no good to put things in for the attic anymore. They usually have a carrier recycling point for all the useless ones you have.
Aldi do accept debit cards now and also give cash back.
We do not have a local lidl but when away camping we have called in and find that the stuff is all quality. Aldi sell stuff that is very high quality but don't sell all we need so often have to go to tesco too.The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -

they both have their merits, but I find that ALDI's products are generally better and their staff are much much better - in fact, probably the best of any supermarket, including the so called up market ones.0 -
I go to Lidl every 6 weeks or so as it's not local to me. OH did the Lidl run last week with the small person and spent £52. Taking into account the fuel the same shop at Tesco would have cost £72. Part of the saving is that I target certain products at Lidl which we have tried and liked compared to the Tesco version but are signficantly cheaper eg mozarella. I find the quality very good but have to say for me personally I think I would struggle to do my complete weekly shop there all the time even if it was on the doorstep because I find things like their fruit and vegetable stocks rather erratic. However, overall I have been extremely impressed.

But, would I make a big trip just for Aldi? Well I think I would, as there are some things that Lidl doesn't do, or that Aldi does better, so.... yes, I would say it is worth it, but just make sure that you get all the Aldi stuff you need for the month when you go!0 -
I've got Lidl, Aldi, 2 Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury all within 5 - 10 minutes. I still prefer to drive 13 miles to Asda!!!
No, really, Lidl is great for some things, my kids adore their Paella, not available anywhere else, and their yoghurts are fab.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
Why not get a 50p fabric bag for life from wilkinsons - they are really strong and you can reuse them again and again - plus you can fit loads in each one. i had three for all my shopping but my granma was so impressed I gave her one of mine.0
