transferring balance to a current account

I gave virgin a call concerning the money credit card,and asked about transferring money into a current account.The answer was yes,but to do it i would have to write myself a cheque.It would be then credited into my current account ,but with a 2.9% fee.If i was accepted and didn't get the 5500 limit that i require,i would then have to do the same with another card to make up the balance with probably the same fee.It sounds if i would be better off just getting a low interest loan and pay it over 2 1/2 - 3 years.I was under the impression that i would be able just to log onto the site when i was accepted and move the money without writing cheques to myself???anyone know the answer?

Unless they've changed the 'rules' (very recently) for new customers, it's entirely possible to BT from your current account both with a telephone based CSA and also online from your secure area.
