Working From Home - Can I Save Money?

I am a Regional Manager who is part field based . My company has recently closed down the local depot meaning I would have to travel approx 120miles to Head Office. This has meant me converting my 3rd bedroom into an office to be able to work from home .
Is there any way I can claim money back from the company for having funished an office ? Can I effectively charge them rent on this room now as it is essential office space taken away from my private living space ?I have also noticed an increase in my energy bills due to having to work from home during the day - can I claim this back ? We are currently considering building an extension due to losing our guest bedroom as it has become the office but I resent having to spend my own money to accomodate my job - am I entitled to any kind of relief or support with this ? What are my rights ?
Please HELP !!

    Hi,

I've been wondering where the best place to put this is as your question covers multiple areas. In the end I decided on the Tax Board as my gut feeling is that one of your options is to get tax benefits rather than directly claiming expenses. I think expenses are dependant on company policies and alowances.

    Good luck
