If he's going to set everything up for you - order the domain name and hosting, create and upload the pages, and provide support when you need it - then £100 isn't bad, admittedly.
I'm not the most creative of people so while the techie stuff would be easy enough for me, I'd have to get someone else to do the design, 'cos it'd look like !!! if I was to design something.
If you're getting someone to make it for you make sure you get mockups of the layout and stuff before they go ahead and code it.They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
I have an oven cleaning business, just want a basic website which will show what I do and how I do it and a bit about myself really. Customers won't be purchasing from the site, just giving them information and contact telephone numbers. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

Also does it matter that I have purchased my domain name from another site to which I would be using as my hosting site - or do I need to buy it again? Sorry if I sound a bit thick but totally new to all of this techie stuff

Then I'd set it up yourself, it will be a challenge but you'll likely have quite a bit of fun

with your hosting package you'll probably get a bunch of templates for website, and a few other things like wordpress (a blogging tool) that you can experiment with. setting up just a single page should be fairly easy but weegie is right, if this guy is creating the site for you for 100 quid that might be a way to go0 -
and no, it doesnt matter you'll be with two companies, you can give the domain holder the details for your new host0

You can buy your domain from pretty much anywhere, yeah. You'll then go into the control panel at that provider and point your website at wherever you got the hosting from.
Just go for whoever's cheapest for the domain TLD (.co.uk I'm guessing you want) that you want.
