tax credits "helpline"

I have been trying to contact the "helpline" since Friday morning.
On Friday a man said "that the computers were down".
I have since tried at least 20 more calls, at different times of the day , a message is saying due to high call volume "please call back later".
IS THERE ANYBOBY THERE
Has anyone else had any problems this weekend?

There computers were offline on Thursday afternoon, all day Friday and Saturday until 3pm, they just had what they called a "limited service". You could try them today but I expect there to be a queue.

If all you want to do is tell them about a change in circumstances, then write them a letter. They will usually deal with it pretty quickley.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

for a change of details, why not register for online use ?, they are no slower actioning changes than giving details over the phone/by post and you only wait a week or so for the registration password.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I did that... Hideous. I had long complicated password, reference code, after obtaining something else for the government web access. I seem to remember it was a heqdache trying to log on too... Is it better now?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
i found it okay , fill in a few details and a password, wait for the user number and confirmation code to arrive, enter the details and log in.
After that first time, you just enter the User Id and password, no more than a lot of sites require you to do so.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
