Are you on Virgin cable or BT line? When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0

You cant have your line rental with Virgin Media Cable and CPS your calls to another supplier. Only BT Line Rental Customers can do this.
But:
You can use suppliers like 18185 via their 0808 Freephone Access Number.

You can use 0844/0871 Gateway Numbers like those listed in the UK Call Checker. But Virgin Media do raise a 7p or 10p connection charge to call them.

Also some suppliers will provide you with a smart box that routes your calls through their network.Eg

What about if we are on the free calls weekends and evenings to 01 and 02 numbers , will we end up paying the third party for them ?

No as long as you dont place those calls through your alternative supplier.
Your best bet to place peak 01/02 calls would be 18185 . 4p connection and 1p a minute. If you dont use the 0808 access number eg evening and weekends your calls will go via VM and will be inclusive.0 -
On such low usage would going to VOIP be a good idea - assuming they have access to another phone for "emergencies"0

The Phone Co-Op offer a good cable tariff if you make longer evening calls - 4.7p for up to one hour. You access it via a 0800 access number so you can still make the most of the free weekend calls by calling direct on your cable line.

There is no connection fee and per second charging so it also better for 0845/0870 calls than direct on Virgin.0
