You guys know if any of the Freeview PVR's record from Sky by any chance? So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable Christopher Reeve (1953-2004)0

Mosy PVR have a Scart in if you put Sky down this it will record..
I got my Freeview PVR with a £160 HD is was around £120 over a year ago from one of the online stores.
It is a Humax, I have a basic Humax (no PVR) in the kitchen both work fine.Seth.0 -
That Argos deal sounds good. I need a freeview box because I've just kicked ntl into touch. Is the recording easy for someone not too clever with these things? Ta0

A PVR will only record from its own built in tuner.
A PVR will not record from Sky, unless it is an official Sky box.
The box in this thread will not record Sky apart from the free to air channels.
I think you may be getting confused with DVD recorders with built in HDD.0 -

Maplin stuff always tends to be a bit gimmicky and 'Cheap 'n Cheerful'.
They are (started off) in my home town and I have known them for many years.
Plus point - They used to be the local ATARI Specialist.
Began selling components and are very good for that, but you get better quality merchandise down the local market.
This is a case of 'you get what you pay for'.

I have the Humax 8000T Freeview + PVR 40Gb version - now sold with 80Gb HDD. Cost me £100 (ex display - my mate who runs the local TV shop had only had it on the shelf for about 1 week!). As far as I am concerned its an excellent piece of kit - much better Freeview reception than my previous Samsung box. Only a single tuner but that is not a problem for me.
Humax now doing a 26" widescreen LCD with a twin tuner freeview PVR built in. And this does record from the scart socket too as demonstrated by my mate at the w/e - he recorded from his Sky box through the scart. Also has USB2 connection for connection to additional external hard disks or a PC. About £1k.0
