Car insurance- can I cancel it after 7days?

Am I entitled to cancel my car insurance and get a refund under the distance selling regulations?
7 working days ago I bought car insurance over the phone. With a lot of negotiation I got my renewal price down and took out fully comp insurance instead of tpft on my renewal.
My insurance is very high because I drive a performance car and my 24year old fianc! is a named driver. She now wants her own car an I can get a much better quote on my own.
The insurer is sky insurance and I have not rung them yet.
Thanks, Phil

i beleive the 14 day ruling applies, check the paperwork, usually there is a form stating that if you dont want the insurance then you can cancel.... some might charge an admin fee...smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

You should be able to cancel using 14 day cooling of period.
They may have a few fees to take off and 7 days insurance coverage.
I guess you haven't received the paperwork that will list this in the cancellation area of the terms and cons.
I hope they don't drag their feet and you not receive the terms and cons until after the cooling off period has elapsed.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

Unlike other insurances, you are required to pay for the period between commencement and cancellation. So you wont get a 100% refund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have a certificate of insurance but little else. I have no paperwork detailing a 14 day money back guarantee.
While I thought 14 day cooling off was law not a company policy I cannot find any evidence of this.0 -
There is no longer any requirement for companies to issue cancellation rights. if you want to cancel, you contact them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Under FSA guidelines you have a 14 day cooling off period, and its 14 days from when you receive your paperwork, NOT 14 days from inception of the policy.0
