Does anyone know how much NFU insurance will agree on claim over the phone

We are insured with NFU both buildings and contents. We had storm damage over the weekend, a tree down and the tree branches took out some glass in the greenhouse. Does anyone know how much NFU agree on a claim over the phone without inspecting ?

It varies according to the workload.
Sometimes it will be down as low as £500, at busy times they may up it to £2,500. You just can't tell I'm afraid.

Out of interest, did it damage the frame of the glasshouse or just the glass? If you are only talking a few panes of float glass, might not be worth claiming.

Might also be worth asking on Freecycle if anyone in your area has float glass going spare. Cost would be nothing then.
