Hello, I was also stung by these people, I got a call about 10 mins after putting the SIM in my new Nokia N95 from O2, they said they were from the 02 insurance underwriters and they had a better deal for me, they conned various bits of data from me then being smitten by the deal I passed on my VISA details and a welsh lass said we will take 2 payments one for £48 and one for £47 at a later date, also I was instructed to stop the DD with Lifeline who are the insurance company for the carphone warehouse, after the call I twigged "you stupid idiot" they conned my personal details, what a Muppet, so I called back the number and a cocky welsh bloke answered the phone with "hello, can I help" no company name, so I demanded he told me the name of his business and after a couple of minutes he said "Crystal Clear Cover Ltd" I put down the phone and immediately called o2 and the carephone warehouse who confirmed they were fraudsters, I had to stop my cards and called the credit reference agencies who password protected my files so no applications could be carried out without my authorization, what a mess, tip off the week...don’t disclose any personal data to anyone, even if they appear to be genuine.
Oh and the police were informed and this company have been added to there intelligence database and are being investigated.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I think the company might be securephone2u without the s before the 2

Or maybe an ex employee who is passing themselves of a securephone2u! as right now the only evidence of who took the money is the bank statement saying it was securephones2u. I think bank is first port of call 2nd should be the police.

I had fraudulent transactions on my Nationwide card in December in Canada and I wasn't even there. NW cancelled the card and gave me a new one and refunded the tranactions, but I have now received a letter from them saying that they are going to put the amounts back on my card as all of them were authorised by Chip and Pin! That's ridiculous, there's no way I have ever given my PIN number out, but basically it's their word against mine and they are are basically calling me a liar. Is there anything I can do, as I can ill afford to pay, as the amounts are £1000+

I replied to you on your other thread about this - the Banks appear to be trying it on by saying that "Chip and Pin" is completely secure and that any transactions that are authorised as "Chip and Pin" cannot be fraudulent.

The poster SimonGregson said that in actual fact customer liability is limited to £50 only even if the customer writes their PIN number on the card.

I suggest that in all the cases in this thread the posters need to complain to their Banks, keep the pressure up and demand satisfaction. The onus is on the Bank to prove that the transactions are due to negligence. Do NOT let the Banks get away with discarding the Banking Code, bring them to account.

If they really will not refund the transactions, next step has to be the ombudsman.

If this becomes a major issue, I wonder if Martin could look into some sort of class action as he has done with the unlawful Bank charges.
