1. How do I find out if I can record to DVD? My CD Rom is Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-308B - does this mean I can only burn to CD's and DVD's are only playable and not burnable too?

2. If I CAN burn to DVD, what kinds of files can I burn to it? Can I burn Mpeg's, AVi's and Jpegs?

I'd like to burn lots of my things to DVD as my PC is constantly being serviced and I can't play my CD-R's on my DVD player

Why not try upgrading to a dvd rewriter here all for less than 40 quid.

You get get much better DVD Writers for less than that.

Go to https://www.microdirect.co.uk and look up the LG GSA 4163 or NEC ND3540. They are around £30-33.
