I want to cover an old Belfast sink with hypertufa, the 'recipe' uses peat, what can I substitute for peat?

Coir compost might work? Or would the fact that it is quite fibrous be a problem?
In which case, any fine tilth compost shoud be ok - perhaps use a garden sieve to get rid of any lumps ( Wilkinsons sell very cheap garden sieves)0 -
From my all time favourite gardener Geoff Hamilton.
One part sharp sand, one fresh cement and two of sieved coconut fibre compost.
This is the recipe he uses to make alpine troughs,Humans only use around forty percent of their brains capacity. Imagine what we could achieve if we used the other seventy percent!0 -
Ahh....Geoff Hamilton. Learnt all my gardening from watching him on Telly and reading his books. Gardener's World hasn't been the same without him. Visited his garden in Rutland a few times too, well worth a visit. Memories ............0

My hero too - Monty Don's no match in my opinion.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I loved the way he could turn his hand to any job, gardening or building. You got the feeling that even when the cameras stopped running he would just keep gardening!Humans only use around forty percent of their brains capacity. Imagine what we could achieve if we used the other seventy percent!0
