Does anyone know a good ( cheap but reliable) company where we can hire a Ford Mondeo, Opel Vectra or similar for 4 adults.....1 over 6ft tall, 1 a teenager with LOTS of clothes..... and 4 (largish) suitcases. We would like to hire it before we arrive & want to collect & leave it at Faro airport. What insurances is it best to have? Do we need to opt out of CDW or Theft insurance.Any info greatly appreciated

I think Alan only does airport transfers.0

Try https://www.economycarhire.com - I've used them in the past, very reasonable all inclusive on insurance and no charge for extra drivers, also no charge for border crossing into Spain. I found them very efficient, don't be put off by the fact that they "operate" out of a briefcase as they don't pay to have a booth in Faro airport. Regards,, Scoya.0

Back last month from Portugal and used carjet for the first time. Have nothing but praise for them ... they were also the cheapest we found. Would recommend them every time.
We didn't take out the excess waiver as we were renting for a month and the premium would have been half the original rental again but driving in Portugal is MAD so you need to consider the option.0 -
I would recomend for geniusmum to check all links posted here, and also http://www.alamo.co.uk - I used them this april, everything was OK.
Driving in Portugal is mad, thats true, but being a bit mad driver myself I did enjoy driving in Portugal :hello:0 -
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I've now found a thread with some AWD voucher nos. that I can use on the Avis website, This will save me a good £200 !! A real bargain !0

A lot of these sites won't quote for next summer yet, but given the quotes I am getting from those that do (£900+ for a people carrier for 2 weeks), I need to know a price before I can decide if I can afford the holiday to go with the car hire....
