Dishwasher in hard water area

Could anyone who lives in a hard water area advise me which dishwasher products (eg all in one tabs or separate detergent and rinse aid) works best and/or is most economical ?

I'm about to get my first dishwasher and I'm thoroughly confused

TIA

Jude

I don't think there is much difference, I've always used two products.
The main thing in a hard water area is to keep the salt topped up - or buy a water softener !.

I use than finish quantrum tablets, but I use salt & rinse aid as well, I think perhaps you need more "stuff" in a hard water area.

I'll say this very quietly, but we use tablets & rinse aid from Lidl.

I use the cheapest salt & rinse aid.

But I do think the Quantum tabs are good. I have compared them to others.

The trick is to stock up well when they are on offer;)

Like shampoos etc, it's always better to use seperate products ie detergent (I use powder, it works out MUCH cheaper) and rinse aid - but ALWAYS use salt in the softener. Find out from you water company what your hardness is and set the machine appropriately (some do it automatically).

Tablets with so called 'salt action' do NOT replenish the softener.
