parcel delivered faulty

Hi there could do with some advice on this one please.

I brought and paid by paypal a christening suit for my friend as she doesnt have an ebay account i had emailed the lady asking for it to be sent straight to my firends house as i'm always at work and miss the post, anyway this arrived yesterday to my house and when i opened it there is a large smoulder with hole mark on it and after closer inspection there is a hole in the bag so looks like its been damaged in the post god knows how though as it looks like a burn to me this had also supposed to be recorded delivery and wasn't as the postman had simply pushed it through letterbox.

So what do i do next shall i email seller and tell her it has arrived damaged and ask for replacement and postage costs to return this or simply leave it a week and tell her it hasnt arrived as she will be covered as it was sent recorded.

I would contact the seller giving details of the flaws on the christening suit(include pictures). Ask whether it can be replaced, if not, you would like a refund.
