I was shocked to see the prices of Hotels in Mumbai!
Can anyone here recommend a decent hotel but good value deal for 1 week in mid March? Not sure about the area, but somewhere central would be good.
BTW I have found a direct flight with Jetair for £338, (lastminute.com) can anyone beat this? Need to travel before Easter but flexible with the dates.
Thanks

I doubt you will find any 'cheap' decent Hotels. I stayed at the Ambassador during the Cricket in 2006, but notice this is now over £100 per night for a double. I can recommend it though - Just off Marine drive.
I assume you have a reason for going to Mumbai? The place is a bit of a sh1thole, but there are things to do and see there! I'm an India addict - love the place. Going back for a few weeks at the end of the year.
Good flight prices!0 -
how basic do you want?
I normally pay 600 for a 4 bed room with a shared bathroom... no air con or tv though great location... been a few times... Also paid 400 for a 2 bed room though the walls do not go all the way to the top :[0 -
I take it you mean 600 Rupees? are you talking about a shared 4 bedroom house/flat or a 4 beds in one room?
I think I will want my own privacy... something like an Ibis or Travelodge would have been perfect.0 -

You will need to be careful as many of the cheaper hotels tend to have a lot of business by the hour - if you get my drift!!!!
I stay in the suburbs part of the year but rent a place so not too familiar with central hotels. Is there a reason for you wanting to stay central - there isn't much there and the suburbs like Bandra West and Juhu have much more there to enjoy. I have found the hotels in Juhu to be fine and safe. Depends on your budget really. You can get a cab easily into town from Bandra and Juhu for a couple of pound.
Bandra is great for shopping and nightlife!!!!0 -
Thanks for the tips, actually I dont have a reason to be central, I just thought it would be good fro a tourist, but having read more about Mumbai I think that Juhu or Bandra would be fine..
Any suggestions?0 -
I just stayed at the Peninsula Grand. It's behind the international airport. Only one year old hotel, the room are lovely, modern, well designed. Food great.
Not a great view though.
But yeah hotels in Mumbai are really expensive.0
