When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I have /will

DD: MUM, do you REALLY need more shower gel? you already have 5 bottles and goodness knows what else hidden in the wardrobe!
Me: Yes, it is a BARGAIN and you can pay for it with your Boots points so it doesn't actually cost you anything!
DD: But I want to get you something nice! (sighs heavily) what about flowers? chocolate? (I pout) There must be something else you want! Shall I choose something - it's meant to be a surprise after all!
Me: All the other mothers get nice presents, why can't I have something I like etc etc (tantrum builds until DD gives in).I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

Today I'm going to:
Have a good search round Quidco and Pigsback and jot down who offers what with the people I shop with.
Stick the list next to the computer so I actually remember to use them!
Get ebay stuff photographed and listed (been saying that for 2 weeks though).
Walk rather than drive.
Double check DD against net banking, make sure I havent miscalculated those for tomorrow.0 -
Today I will:
Stay away from the shops
Cook a big stew to feed us for the week
Search Quidco for new things to apply for at no cost0 -
Morning all
Today I am going to:
- parcel up the 13 items I sold on Amazon/Play yesterday :j
- transfer money made from Amazon/Play to bank account, half to pay extra off CC and half to savings.

I've filled in the form and posted the letter to Sainsburys agreeing to a refund of over £600 worth of Visa charges they sent yesterday;
Bought some groceries which be enough for lunches for the coming week to save me buying anything in the canteen.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Today I have/will:
- shopped around for a new hoover online, deciding on one in Argos that I could use my envirofone card, valued opinion voucher and nectar points towards before deciding to just check the guarantee on the (9 months) old one. Discovered that if I clean the filters, it should pick up again - so they're busy soaking now in hit soapy water and hopefully I'll save all my vouchers etc for the next thing I need :T
- making homemade lasagne for tea
- checked online banking and updated spreadsheets
- update spending diary before I forget what I've spent
- stick to list in Asda
