in Credit cards
Just wondered if anyone else had come across this? Basically someone came into my hubbys shop and asked him if he wanted to open an MBNA business card. My hubby said no he didnt want another card. The chap went on his way then about a month later he got a phone call from MBNA telling him his card and pin were on the way and his limit was 10k. Hubby obviously said he didn't want it and the guy cancelled it straight away and said to destroy card when it came etc which he did.
I assume the guy that came into the shop must have lied on the form but I just thought, wouldn't a credit card have needed to check his credit file and therefore wouldn't they have needed his signature for this? Is so then someone must have forged it.
I'm really cross about this and intend to contact them but I just wondered if this had happened to anyone else and what you would do about it.
Thanks

I agree sounds strange, but keep going with MBNA Im having a go at the moment over 0% Cheques sent then offer withdrawn without my knowledge, also strange, I wrote once and they tried to fob me off but I threatened to take it to FSA and they are re-examining problem - strange that!!Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0

Too right! When I applied for my MBNA card I had to provide everything but my shoe size!I agree sounds strange...
Hubby must have provided the information for the form, in order for it to marry up with the credit agency and fraud prevention agency search results, and a card with a (not insignificant) £10K credit limit issued.
I suspect the only thing that was 'forged' was the signature, the rest of the information having been (freely?) provided by hubby?0 -
Knowing him it wouldn't surprise me as hes a bit of a dope (bless him) with things like this. However, he was certainly not aware that he was giving information for an application and did make it clear that he did not want a card (there was someone else in the shop with him at the time who can confirm this). Also when MBNA rang him to tell him the card was on the way, they did ask him some questions as they said that there was some information missing on the form however it can't have been that significant as I presume he must have been credit checked. (Its this I'm more annoyed about actually as I've stopped applying for credit cards etc for a while as I thought it was probably not doing our credit rating much good)
The card and pin both turned up so it wasn't anyone trying to get the card and use it. Do MBNA employees get commsion on new cards do you think?0 -
About 6 years ago my husband applied and was accepted for an MBNA credit card. Everything seemed in order.
About 18 months later, he was sent a Childline MBNA Credit Card (one of those cards where there give something to the Childline charity), however we are absolutely sure that he never applied for this card and just sent it to him.
Our circumstances have changed in recent months and we are on a dmp with cccs and wonder whether we can pursue a challenge of the debt if they cannot provide a true copy of the cca for this card - does anyone know? i.e is the debt enforceable and how would we go aboutfinding out about this?0 -
How did those wicked people get hubby to spend on the card........did they force him, gun-to-head?hillbilly5 wrote: ».........however we are absolutely sure that he never applied for this card and just sent it to him.
