That is not quite true poppyoliva there are more strict controls than that.
the application for a dropped kerb will be in the region of £30-50 the council will then either insist that they carry out the works or give you a list of approved contractors.I very much doubt they will let you do the works themselves. I have been involved in dropped kerb jobs in three different councils and everytime had to use the approved contractors. There is aform that needs filling in and submitting by the contractor.£400-800 seems to be about right.0 -

I want some advise if possible please
My neighbour has a dropped kerb for access to a driveway in his front garden
He also has another dropped kerb on the corner of the property with access to nowhere, he just parks his van there
He has now also just pit a huge drop kerb on my street for access to his back garden via the side, which he parks a caravan & a lorry in. This is right next my drop kerb & causes me problems when his lorry is parked on it.
To top things off, he done it all himself as he is a builder my trade
How do i find out if he had permission for these, i cant find any information on the tamworth council website...
He has also built two huge conservatories himself, a side extension, a massive kitchen extension...
and people are telling me he changed his fencing boundry and covered the grass verge which used to be there. looking at the plans when i bought my house there is clearly a grass verge on there which is no longer there, he has built over it, and moved his fence.0 -
the way you talk about your neighbour he doesn't seem to care for authorites, so I would be careful about getting the building inspectors around and making waves. The only reason I say this is because I used to live in a town where a house on a 70's built estate had become a steptoes yard and was really ugly. The neighbours didn't speak to the guy about it they just went to enviormental health, who duly gave him orders to clean up.
The guy cleaned up the garden during the day - and painted his house pink with yellow spots (like mr blobby) overnight he put notes through all the neighbours doors telling them he hoped they liked the new look !! It remained that way for years, 2-3 that I know of.
because of this case I would say if it's only parking of the lorry that bothers you go and speak to him and say that it is causing you trouble. If he is negative then you could always drop into conversion how long did it take him to get the permission, who is the best person in the council to contact about getting an extention etc.
Good Luck0
