well done on the weightloss, I am avid about diets for the frst few.... wish I could say days, but the enthusiasm lets me down after only hours!
healthy Fish and chips, I am not sure whether bread crumb is any better than batter, tho you could make a foil parcel and drizzle the fillet in butter, parsley and salt and pepper then grill it.. in my diet moments I do that, but replace butter with lemon juice if im strong at the time!
oven chips arent the same :S

To be honest.. the healthiest option for me is to share! When Im trying to be good *this means weight watchers lol - I dont need the book to look up points, I did it so often!*
if i want fish and chips, I have it, but, I have half a portion and we share it. I dont need a full portion to be full, half fulfills both me and the craving, and the desire to have something I perhaps shouldnt, but can as its 9 points for half a chippy portion, so still 11 left to drink! ( maybe im not the best advert / advisor!!!)

    Thanks all,

    Looks like battered it is.

My chips and peas are pretty healthy though, I will keep reminding myself of this.

Think I am a bit to fussy with the occasional treat.

I lost a hell of a lot of weight last year (around 8 stone!!!), and after 7 months have successfully kept it off, dont want to put it back on!
May I ask how you've done it? That's incredible!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I weighed 20 stone, but you certainly wouldn't have thought so.

I never eat excessively, and was relatively active however the weight just seemed to go up over the years.

It was around last year that I decided to change things.

I completely new diet was formed (being quite a good cook helps!).
Essentially no fat was used, I was at the gym 4 times a week, and did some form of vigorous exercise within the other 3 days.

The weight then literally fell off, averaging around 3 pounds a week.
It certainly wasnt easy, but looking at some of my old clothes was definitely worth it.

Being 12 stone is some much better. Some medium clothes are to big, and I fit into a 32 waist with ease. (I was a 44 waist!).

My biggest piece of advice is that eating 3 daily meals was crucial to my success.

Some of them may have not been the most interesting meals, however I covered all my nutritional groups within them.

I found this much better than previous diets were meals where skipped.

Also, only checking the scales one a week worked better.

Keeping the weight off, feels almost as good a loosing it.

    Hope that helps.

Let me add my voice to the chorus of Well Done! Can I pinch you? Maybe a bit of weight-loss-willpower will rub on me (Goodness knows I need it!).

Re. healthy fish, now you have that fish already bought it and that's that - batter won't kill your OH, but in the future if you want to do relatively healthy fish and chips the best fish option I have found in the past is to get ready-battered oven bake fish, Even fish fingers, they are quite filling and get quite crispy but do not break the calorie bank. I also use oven chips and make my own mushy peas by boiling regular frozen peas and then, erm, mush them!

I tend to serve the above meal with loads of steamed veg (carrot and cabbage is a favourite) so I do not give a lot of the less healthy stuff and pile the plates high with veg - but then my family all like veg, this is not always possible if you have a "green revoluntion" (as in: "YUCK, GREENS!") on your hands at home!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
