Internet Telephony

Sorry if this should be in the Techie thread, I wasn't sure which.

Pleease can someone help? I'm trying to set up telephony between me and my mum (in Oz). I have '98 and she has XP therefore the Skype one is no good for me. We tried the MSN messenger and although we can type away, we can't connect to the audio ???

I give up with MSN, so can anyone suggest a telephony service (free) that will work for us both? I'm reading through the different ones as I type but if anybody has any suggestions I would be so grateful :-/.

Thanks very much
Shanni

have you had a look at yahoo? there chat rooms have audio, and you can create a private chat room, so only you and your mum would have access
Copy from one, it’s plagiarism; copy from two, it’s research.

Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone else wants to try it, Skype works a treat! :D It set up easy as pie on my windows '98 and my mum and I are now chatting away for free. The quality isn't bad at all.

Thanks Martin for the info :);):D
