My old Netgear DG834G v2 died (wouldn't hold its settings any more) so, having checked for a good price and also having been so pleased with the Netgear that I'd recommended it to others, I ordered the latest (v4) version from DSL Source. Paid for next day (any time) delivery and it arrived about 9:30am.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't work with my Lotus Notes Instant Messenger that I need for the office and I wasn't able to download from the office FTP site. The old v2 had been fine. Phoned Netgear technical support - extremely poor line so lady phoned me straight back (big brownie points for that). But she wasn't able to resolve the problems so I phoned DSL Source to return /exchange the router. This was Friday lunchtime. The new router did all of the other things that it should do but just wouldn't co-operate with the Notes messaging or the office FTP.
I ordered a Speedtouch 585 (and paid for Sat delivery, arrived about 9:00am so delighted with that). In addition to the new router, DSL Source sent me a reply paid special delivery envelope to send back the Netgear that wouldn't work properly for me.
What I really liked was that the return/exchange was completely hassle-free. It just wasn't a problem. I could have just returned it for a refund (but not for the delivery charge which is fine as the new router wasn't broken) but I chose to exchange and, if it had been midweek and I didn't want the Sat delivery, I would have received a small refund. The lady at DSL Source I spoke to was able to handle the whole matter herself and what she said would happen, just happened.
I would use DSL Source again.
(Would also like to give big kudos to my ISP, Zen - they were really helpful trying to diagnose the issue and, when the replacement router arrived they talked me through setting it up so that it was on the right subnet for my needs. Zen isn't the cheapest ISP by a long way, but when you have a problem, you get straight through to someone who knows what they're doing. So, it's good value for money in my book.)
