Refurb laptops

Looking for a family laptop, mostly surfing / office with a little graphics work thrown in. No major gaming needed.
Been looking at the laptops here:-
PCWorld refurb laptops
Anyone have any experience of these and are there any which seem to leap out as good value?
Am kind of wary about the advent / own brand ones, am I right to be or are the alright?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Your link doesn't work for me, so I couldn't see what savings you might be making, but...
A laptop is one of the things that I wouldn't buy as a "refurb", because many laptop problems seem to occur intermittently and at random.
I really wouldn't trust PC World to do anything more as part of the "refurb" process than to check that nothing was broken off, switch it on and confirm it boots and then put it in stock as a successful refurb.0 -
Thanks, also updated link.0

Also a Dell which is a bit cheaper, inferior processor, probably doesn't look as nice.

I believe laptops sold as refurbished may have had nothing seriously wrong with them but simply returned to PC World for a variety of reasons. They cannot then be sold as "new". But you should check on what PC World say and, having narrowed down your choice, look around to see what the same models are sold for.
I bought a refurbished Packard Bell 17" for just over £500 a year ago. Not from PC World though - they were much dearer. It was spotless on delivery and has been fine since.

I got a great refurb laptop about 18 months ago from a ebay powerseller that buys defunct (bankrupt) companies computers. Can't remember his id but he had 18000 positive rating and I got a 6 months old laptop for a great price with just a few scratches on the casing.0
