Not sure if the sale is still on at Halfords, they were doing like £50-£100 off some models, and offered free fitting.

Also, buy now pay 6months for spends over £199

You could get a Mitac Mio from http://www.handtec.com/acatalog/Mitac_Mio_168_PDA.html#a1_215 at £218. Or
    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=9291863430&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X3Jldmlld3M=&product_uid=77993 at £190 plus shipping.

Both have a Pda (Personal Digital Assistant) a GPS unit and then the Software. Personally I prefer the Mitac, because it will is more compact and also appears to be better intergrated with the GPS unit with less wires to play with. Still any should be more than adequate for providing directions in a car so it is up to you really. Good luck.

You may get more replies to your thread on the Motoring board, so I hope that you don't mind if I move your thread over there.

The medion is good, and comes with Navigator software. Its a bit of a fiddle if you swap it over to tomtom5 though (particulaly the GPS setup)- which I did as I think its a slightly better system...

skr80, I have the Medion from Halfords, just what is involved in changing over from Navigator to TomTom? Any links with instructions anywhere on the web?

    Thanks

    Sam.

not that I found. suggest you use a smart card reader to install if you have one, and not through the ppc to the card. When installed, I had difficulty in obtaining a gps signal - basically after a few hours of trying i found you have to change the gps connection in settings to the wired 'other' gps device. Also ensure gps is enabled on the Medion as well!

I guess it was easy to do eventually, but a sod to have to work it out!

I got the Medion from Aldi 12 months ago. Great system.

For more info on GPS, reviews, speed camera databases, etc. see https://www.pocketgps.co.uk.

For use with TomTom, I gather you may need to change some settings on the receiver too as described here: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=11362
