Car Insurance

Hi, my wife and i are looking at a used car but i am trying to get a insurance quote before we buy but when we put the registration number in on confused.com it says not recognised.

Anyone know why?

Thanks

Dave

Perhaps confused.com is a bit confused?

Try putting it into the quote system of an individual insurer like Direct Line and see if they say it is not recognised as well, then you would know whether it was a problem with confused.com or a general problem with the registration itself.

If the latter, maybe the car has been written off in an accident but then repaired by someone, but taken off the DVLA database because it was previously written off?

  • Don't know why, but you can still obtain a quote without the registration mark. Just input the vehicle make, model etc. manually.
