I dont mind it taking a while after all im going ot be there forever lol.

Later on you may chose to house swap or use you right to buy, and then move at a later date. If you stay there forever, it will be through your choice.

A story that my mother always tells is of a friend of hers who split from her husband when he found someone else. This friend had to sell her large house and move to a 2 bedroom with her teenage son and daughter. When she first viewed the 2 bed house, my mother suggested that this would be fine to begin with as she could divide the main bedroom into two rooms. The day the friend moved into this house, she sat on the stairs and wept at losing her big house and how her life had changed.

Now both of her children have grown and left home and she has a job she loves. My mother asked if she was now going to move to a bigger house, but her friend said that she loved that little house, more than any other she had ever had and could never see herself wanting to part with it. Her Ex's second wife had even appeared at her door one day, in tears, as she had just found out her husband had found someone else and wanted a divorce.

Don't forget to take before and after photos of your new house.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Through my business, I deal with a lot of people like you.

You, your ex pays nothing in tax towards the state, but expect a good home. When you get one you moan...

    UNBELIEVABLE.

Think you should be on the streets, if thats your attitude

What business would that be? Slum landlord?

    Hello all,

I was offered a council house yesterday I dont have the keys but went and had a good look around the outside. The house will need a lot of work but thats ok im not scared of getting myself dirty, the kitchen is about 30 years old (its lime green!) but i can deal with that however the garden is 120ft long but hasnt been tended to in a very long time. its so thick with undergroth that you cant get more than 5ft in before you get stuck.
Does anyone know if the council have an obligation to make the garden safe? i only got a small way in and found a street lamp in the garden so god knows what else is in there.
I have 3 young children and am going to need to be able to use the garden but I cant afford to pay someone to do that garden, and its def going to need someone professional to clear it.
I dont want it to seem im being ungratful this house is a tip and will take forever to fix but i have the time and its only cosmetics but the garden in beyound me.
Does anyone know what the council's obligation towards handing the house over to me in a fuctioning condition and where i stand with the garden?

    Thanks for any advice

Like everyone else says take the house. It will be long time before you come across such an offer again.

Do you have a local college near you?? the one in my city has various gardening/landscaping courses and they are often advertising in the summer months for 'untamed wildernesses' to allow the pupils to get some practical experience. I'm guessing it will cost you less in juice/crisps/ bacon rolls than a company would charge.

Hey a positive thing is i was watching one of they self build/design shows on sky and the man put a lime green kitchen in with chrome effect handles and chrome kettle/toaster. Walls were pale alomost white and it had a halogem light fitting that liiked like it was about £20 in B&Q. Surprisingly it actually looked really nice.

HOW DARE YOU BE SO PRESUMPTIVE AND BLOODY RUDE YOU CLEARLY HAVE LITTLE MAN COMPLEX.
Im not sure what job you do but im pretty sure your a failure at it.
Words cant exspress my anger towards such a self centred !!!!! (that you clearly are)
My ex husband has to pay a massive amount of tax and Nat insurance every month, the only time the army dont pay tax is when you are fighting in a war zone, we pay more council tax than anyone else who is in civilian street.
I have worked all my bloody life and prob pay more tax that you earn I dont get any benefits and my ex and I both support our children between us.

i think the best thing you can do is keep your pathetic no-it-all- nothing, month shut, you are clearly a silly little troll who is upset that someone else cut a break.
So stay out of this thread your not welcome.

(sorry to everyone else who had to read my outburst)

    Hi,

Don't mean to scare you but me and my mum moved into a council house many years ago when I was a kid. The garden was full of greenery and had to be culled.. But, there were needles everywhere.. I can't remember the exact outcome, but i'm sure the council had to come and do it themselves in the end because of the needles.

So.. if you do it yourself, just be on the look out x

!!{chill}} You do not have to explain yourself. If he/she wants to tar everyone with the same brush, then let them. Some people like to feel "trumped up".
