Son has msn account and he has typed (he said he didn't do it but...) something unkind in his name header. Now he can't remember his password and even though it says it has sent password reminder to alternative address we have checked all ours and it isn't there(we think it might be an old freeserve account we had). Is there any way of finding out what alternative address is? If not what can we do now?

May sound obvious, can't you log into your freeserve account? It's orange now isn't it? Or have I got it all wrong?

Obviously he's still able to log onto MSN Messenger so all he needs to do is to do that, go to Options and change the name in there.0

this claims to find it for free if it's stored on the MSN on the PC

Nope. I'm curious too.lol.
Have you tried answering the "secret question" that may have been set up on the account?
My hotmail account was hacked a couple of years ago and my password changed and when I entered my email on the hotmail site and then clicked "forgot my password" it asked me to answer my secret question. Of course, the hacker was clever and managed to change that too so I lost my account but maybe he has a secret question on his account too?
