Mine does. I have a maternity exemption card which covered the cost of a crown which would have been £194 under NHS charges. I'm also poorly at the moment with an old root canal job that is playing up, and I'm going to have the whole lot taken out under my exemption card for nothing. That would need specialist treatment to repair it which isn't covered by my exemption, so I'm going for the free option
OP - we have 3 children (2 school age and 1 baby). We're on less that than the income you quote, and we don't get an exemption card from tax credits. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Mmmm, looks like my dentist is taking the mick. I pay for my visits to hygienist. It used to be free but from last April I had to pay.0

Sounds like your hygienist has gone private. The dentist can do a scale and polish foc (if you are exempt) if there is clinical need for one.Gone ... or have I?0

Yes you can claim fraudulently. Someone at my work (who is a professional on 25k...) gets one and I work part time and earn around 8k and dont. And I have checked and I am not entitled to one (my husband works and earns 22k) so I dont know how she gets it but her response whenI pointed this out was 'their mistake'.0

I know someone who was sent one after they had reported a change of circs, and though she thought it highly unlikey she was entitled to what they sent her and the increase in her tax credts. She used the card anyway. Later she was told that she had been overpaid and doesn't receive any tax credits now whilst it is paid back, but sh'd already used the card for dental work.0

It's always difficult to judge what someone is or isn't entitled to just on their say-so. There might be other issues/illnesses/circumstances that they did not share with you and some considerations might not be visible.0

I think it was probably claimed 'legally' fraudulently IYSWIM.
She recently had more dental work done but i didn't say anything to her about the exemption card.
She did say her partner hasn't got a card so i'm even more baffled.0 -
If she has one and her partner doesn't, I'm guessing he isn't 'officially' part of the household, when mine came through it automatically sent one for me and one for my husband - as it's a family unit thing as to whether you qualify. (This is assumig it's not a pregnancy exemption, which obviously would be just her)0

It does at my dentist.

It used to cover the hygienist at my dentist. Last year my old dentist retired and they said I had to pay for scale and polish. I made a fuss, saying it had always been covered before and they capitulated. The, last time I went they said I had to pay £24 a time for scale and polish and that the parcice had borne the cost for a year but could no longer do so. It looks like I will have to be done once instead of twice a year.Be nice to people who are on their way downYou never know when they are going to pass you on their way back up againYou cannot light your own candle by blowing out someone else's0 -
