Student Loan Updates.

Does anyone know when the Student Loan updates will be issued? I started paying mine off in April so I would be interested to know how much I have left to pay.

Thanks.

you should receive a yearly statement about september time... so if you haven't received one for 2007 you should contact the SLC

Hmm the SLC usually seem to be uncontactable by email.

I know in the past that they have had problems with statements, so I haven't had most of mine (even though they have the correct address) so i'm not sure when they are supposed to come out. You could ring them but I don't know if they will know either...

My last annual statement arrive December 2007 so you should have yours by now.
The contact number on my statement is: 0870 240 6298. You'll need your customer reference which can be found on any correspondence you have from them.

The only way to contact them electronically is by logging on to the student finance website and sending them a secure message through your profile.

You may also be able to contact them on 0845 607 7577 - the contact number on the student finance website.
  • And don't be surprised if the statement shows a no repayments, either. I'm paying mine off and most of my paymetns were missing last year. Keep ALL your payslips to prove payemets just in case. My payroll department said that although they were bound by law to deduct SL repayments, they knew that the tax office don't forward them on as a priority; often they sit there for months.

One colleague finished paying off his student loan but had deductions taken from his wages for 8 months afterwards:eek: - because previous deducations had not made it through the system and the balance was still outstanding.

Usually the statements are sent though and the phone number is usually not too busy. (trying to end on an up-note here, guys, 'cos I get very angry with SL things!)
Homer: I want to share something with you, Bart: The three little sentences that will get you through life. Number 1: Cover for me. Number 2: Oh, good idea, Boss! Number 3: It was like that when I got here. :p
