I have searched the dell web site and the outlet dell site and cant find a spec that is as good as this for the same sort of price.
    Am i missing something here.

Q: Can this medion offer from aldi (£500) be beaten anywhere else?

Lets keep the price within £500.

I have a Medion and have been very pleased with it, MUCH better than the the two Mesh machines I had before that.
Yes, the reviews I read of Mesh machines always seem to be very good/excellent, but on this forum I've noticed a lot of criticism of them...

that sounds like one of my brothers friends, from memory mesh had his machine for about 2 months due to a series of mistakes whilst they were sorting a fairly simple faulty part (on the plus side he apparently got a few fairly big upgrades - but was still without it for a very long time).

I've been looking more closely at the new Aldi PC and i'm sorely tempted by it due to overall cost and some of the features.
However I think i'm going to give it a miss as the video card isn't great for gaming (so I would be replacing that in short order - raising the cost for me).
I'm still very sorely tempted despite that.

It's really luck of the draw. Most computers if they breakdown it's normally a component i.e. hard disc, power supply in the first year. The problem with Mesh is if the computer has a problem, a component that has broken or a license key is missing, they are damn difficult about fixing it.

Four members of my family including myself have 6 Mesh desktop computers between us, two of which were upgrades from ancient Mesh models. The only problem we have had was with one of them where Mesh gave out a windows licensing key that had been used before, and they had no process in place to recognise this and sort it out quickly. The actually desktop had to be sent back to Mesh then redelivered with a 3 working days wasted for the collection and delivery with a two week turnaround.

There as I brought a desktop from a local place. The power supply failed within the first 3 months and replacing it consisted of me emailing the shop (I have more than one computer), taking the computer to the shop on a Saturday and then picking it up when it was fixed the next Saturday.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • Typical! You always see something better when you have just bought something. I just bought an HP quad core from PC World on Saturday for £499.00, and mines re-conditioned. Not got it yet I'm waiting for delivery.

It is typical - I bought the last Medion PC offered at Aldi 2/3 weeks ago for £100 quid less- I can't believe this one is coming next week - gutted.

I got the core2 spec 2 weeks ago which I'm happy with and brought a medion 5 years ago and had no trouble, anyway you get a 3 year guarantee at aldi that worth a bob or two.
Just hope you can get a driver for your printer as I had a Lexmark and they did not do an update for vista and had to buy a new printer as well.
I will never buy an other Lexmark Printer again.

I have 2 Medion Computers, one is 9 years old, the other is coming up to 3 years old, both fine, never any problems with either.;)
