  • No, I wouldn't have liked to be left behind, I would like it if they had checked to plane first and fixed the problem before we even got on. I really wasn't too bothered about it until I got the letter from them which was just a complete brush off.
Having said that, I'm a reasonably fit 20 year old, what if an elderly person had been in that situation for 11 hours? At least I could wiggle around to manouver my way out of the seat to go to the toilet or for a quick walk, someone else may just have sat there constantly for the whole flight - which with all the health concerns these days could be a real problem.
thanks to everyone one on here for being so friendly and helpfull

I thought this website may be of use to this thread:

    https://www.airlinequality.com

It's a great site where people have added comments on specific flight routes about the service and probably more importantly which seat numbers to try and get  or to avoid.  This part is on the right hand side of the main page under the title 'Find the Best Seat'

Most schedule airlines will allow you to pre-book your seat in advance.  If you have booked through a travel agent you may find that you will be better contacting the airline directly yourself.

Some airlines will allow you to do this online.  I know BA and Virgin will.

I hope this helps for any future trips.
  • Just got a reply to my letter offering "no further recompense on this occasion" - they didn't even return my voucher  :o
I am going to send a complaint and copy of all corrspondance to the AUC, is there anything else I can do?
thanks to everyone one on here for being so friendly and helpfull
