  • I've found fairy and surcare are both very good, I use half the amount of powder recommended and it lasts for ages. I've also found ditching shampoo and soaps with parabens and SLS in them have helped, Halo and Horns products are pretty good and reasonably cheap (£1.70 ish in Tesco).

    Another vote for Surcare here.

Like the earlier poster, we use half (or less!) of the recommended amount. We also use the Surcare fabric conditioner or vinegar, depending on what I'm washing.

Of them all, I find Surcare the least irritating. Aerial non-Bio is also gentle (you can get it quite cheaply in Wilkinson's). Ecover causes rashes in this house, so we stopped using it, though I notice another poster recommends it.

  • I also have eczema and have found that fairy is the only powder I can use and Ecover/Tesco green equivalent are the only liquids. You've obviously had a myriad of good advice here but the only thing I would add is that fabric conditioner stays on the fibres so should probably be avoided altogether (although I will be giving vinegar a try!).
