Eczema and laundry help needed

My daughter suffers from psoriasis but since I started using 50/50 soda crystals/soap flakes she hasn't had any problems. I also use white vinegar instead of fabric conditioner. It doesn't leave your clothes smelling like a chippie, just nice and fresh. If you do want a scent, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar. No chemicals involved and it's much cheaper than buying special products, especially as the soda crystals and vinegar can be used for lots of other household cleaning tasks too.
Thanks. Can you give ideas of exactly how much to use of crystals/flakes/vinegar. Have been put off in past because not sure about quantities. Sorry for being a bit dense but what are soap flakes?0 -
My son has severe eczema and we also find ecover liquid doesn't seem to irritate it. I don't use fabric softener either.
I have also used soap nuts and found them to be very good too.
I thought that soap flakes weren't supposed to be used in a automatic washing machine because it could block it up.0 -

I use Tesco's own brand non bioweaving through the chaos...0 -
My DD has excema and we use tesco non bio with no problems. I recently changed to persil non bio (got it in the tesco promotion) but she's come up all over again0

This is a fantastic blog which gives recipes and ways of green cleaning. I've given the link for the laundry section.
Bicarb is good for putting in the water when washing or bathing if you have skin problems. I would test a small area for a week before total immersion, but it has worked for me.

my dd has eczema - we use tesco non bio
showers every other day - use T-gel shampoo - fragrance free although this is not on prescription i can only get the other one on prescription - as non fragranced is not on gp's list of approved medicines!! which is annoying as its same price in shops!
don't use soap on dd when in shower
no bath although if we do we don't use bubble bath
use tesco own brand handwash for wash handbasin - not anti bacterial
keep a soap dispenser with hand cream at the sink to moisturise her hands after washingThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

i've got exceme and have to be really careful, and my neice is covered from head to toe, my sister always swore by fairy and no fabric conditioner. I think she has changed to aldi cheap range but still sticks with non bio and the no fabric conditioner. I used aquious cream for washing otherwise the skin comes of my hands it's cheaper at either Wilko's or a supermarket than you can get it at boots. I have also found that i can use the sanctury range as long as it doesn't have lanolin in, it's expensive so i ask for it for birthdays/ xmas etc.
When it gets really bad, then all you can do is salt baths, not very nice but they certainly help, (sea salt is the best)0 -

I use a 50/50 mix and about the same amount as I usually would if it were conventional soap powder. The same goes for the vinegar, about the same amount as I'd otherwise use of fabric conditioner (the concentrated stuff)
You can learn more about soap flakes here.Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. - Confucius0 -
