Halifax/BOS Easycash application - few enquiries

Been lurking around here for a while, finally have something to actually post with...

I applied online for an Easycash account with HBOS. All went well, and I've just received -two- letters from them. Both of them are asking me for the required proof of ID. However, they both have different application numbers and are signed by different people. I log into my online account at the Halifax site, and both accounts are listed in there too.

i) Do I need to send -both- of these back? Has this happened with anybody else before?
ii) If I'm reading the letter right, I only need to send an A4 sized photocopy of my passport along with the letter I received, correct? Does it matter if it's black and white, or does it have to be a colour photocopy?
