CTC and DLA

Hi

My partner is going to be moving in with me next month.....we have worked out that this means my CTC will go down to basic 549 a year. My ds gets high rate DLA so I get child disability premium with my CTC, will I lose this too or is that seperate?
I dont get any WTC as dont work enough hours.
Also if it is next month he moves in will we end up owing any money from overpayments?..i am confused as to how it works:confused: .....as it is a new tax year in april anyway will our joint claim just start from there?

I don't know about the disability element of ctc but I imagine you will continue to receive that.

Re overpayments: I imagine they start a new claim as you are now a couple (and your old one is wiped) but even if they don't, you will only accrue them if your household income rises by more than £25000 over the year. So unless your OH earns more than that in the few weeks before the new tax year, it will not affect your claim.

  • many thanks for that.....oooooh if he earned more that that in the next few weeks I would be laughing!!!!
I just phoned the helpline and asked them about what to do but apparently I need to tell them on the exact date he moves in....they cant make changed in advance...and as you point out I need to reapply as a couple....I am hoping it doesnt affect my sons severely disabled element as that wouldnt be fair to him and would make a massive change to monthly income.....I have to have it all above board tho...couldnt live with the stress of IR finding out if I moved him in on the quiet!.....would lead to a whole host of other debts...grrr
