Could someone please tell me What would be the best savings account to get

Fixed rate or ?????

And after 5 x years of saving this amount what would I earn with interest added on please??????

Again I apologise for being a numpty but I can't understand the terminology of the interest rates, AER etc etc it confuses me!!!!

Have you used your ISA allowance? That's the obvious place to start, as the interest is tax free. As for whether to fix it or not then that's a market call. I have some savings fixed and others not. Regular savers can sometimes pay better rates, but it depends on the product.

Have a look at the threads on best cash isas and savings rates.
