Upgrading A&L account

Hi folks. First time poster here so be gentle 
I applied around 3 months ago for the A&L Premier Plus account, but was only given the Premier account. Would i be able to ask A&L to 're-check' me again, to see if I now qualify for the Premier Plus, or is it a case of shutting down the Premier, and starting from scratch?

Hi. In order to get the Premier Plus Current Account you need to be upgraded from the Premier Current Account. You are eligible for the Premier Current Account if £500 per month is being paid into the account. You can apply for an upgrade if £1000+ is being paid into your account.
I upgraded a number of months ago - I simply phoned A&L and was upgraded in a matter of minutes - its well worth the effort, look at the difference in interest rates!!0 -
I applied online for a Premier account about 9 months ago and was only given a basic account. I re-applied for Premier account in January and still turned down again. I wrote to the underwriter complaining and was upgraded to a Premier account in February. I applied for a Premier Plus account online a few weeks ago to get the £25 and was turned down even though I pay more than £1000 per month into my Premier account, so I have a meeting with a branch advisor tomorrow for a financial review, so let's see if they upgrade me otherwise my savings account and cash isa will be getting moved to another bank.0

Hi iomexico,
I applied for the premier plus account but got turned down and they advised to go for premier account. After reading your post I think I should write a complain letter to them as well. Can you provide more info as to whom I shoud sent my letter and what actually you would advise to write?

I don't have the letter on file anymore, but the address was in Leicester and I sent it to the person that I spoke to on the phone, the phone no. for the underwriter is 0870 902 9026
No luck for me at the branch, they told me you can't apply again for 6 months, but you can appeal the decision, so to re-contact the underwriter after checking my file with Experian, but I don't want to spend money to look at my own file.0 -
When I upgraded to the Premier Plus account all it took was a phone call, confirmation of my details and then I was told the upgrade would happen - thankfully it did.
iomexico, it sounds like A&L have messed up and complaining is probably a good option. If you meet the terms and conditions there should be no reason why you can't access the upgrade. Have you phoned their customer service line regarding this?0 -
I wrote to the underwriter a couple of weeks ago complaining that I was surprised that they had refused my Premier Plus application and threatened to move my ISA and Online Savings accounts. Yesterday I received a letter saying that my application for a Premier Plus Current Account had been successful, so anyone who has been turned down write to the underwriter at
