I'm so sick of this company we got a car at the end of December 07 and there is a list of things that do not work on this car and now we were stopped by the police and my son was giving a fine because the tint film tint on the side windows should be 70 per cent and the reading was 29 per cent and the car has to stay off the road until it is put right.
Phoned this company on Monday and they have just phoned me today saying its got nothing to do with them but they sold the car like this he said you were stopped for the driving  i said we were stopped for the windows NOT the driving then he said the police has got it wrong .
Anyway this garage isn't going to do anything about this what can i do please some help

They sold a car that wasn't roadworthy (due to the window tints). Report them to trading standards."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Thanks i hope they can help0 -
Sorry but that sounds wrong
The law has a maximum tint, but a minimum, that sounds like complete crap to me0 -
A maximum tint would give a minimum transmission, so it makes sense.Happy chappy0

Yes , the tints should let at least 70% of light through0

the police didn't think so my son was told by the police the insurance wouldn't pay out if my son was in a crash
So this car is off the road until it is fixed I'm so sick of the garage  you think paying £7000 for a car everything will be safe to be on the road you are talking the wheel bolts were too short on the 4 wheels so the car was taking off the road for a week because a diffrent garage said it was too dangerous to drive , it passed an MOT and a horn didn't work and much much more.0 -
sounds like the person who had it before has added there own tints, factory fitted tints are legal, why cant he just take the tints off ?0

My son was stopped by the police for having illegal tints. He bought it like that from a garage. The actual tints were okay, but the top part of the windows were mirrored and it was this that didn't pass. He just took them off - it wasn't a problem. I was glad. It wasn't good to drive in the dark with them on! It looks better without them as well.
My son didn't go back to the garage though - we'd warned him we thought they might not be legal when he bought it.0
