Can anybody help?

Hi,

I;ve been trying toi call CAB but can't get them to pick the phone up. The neighbour above us flooded my hall lastnight. It will result in us having to take down teh false ceiling to allow them to repair the damage.

Problem is we're not insured as our building had suspected structural problems which were unfounded though work needs done...this is happening in teh next few months.

Can I calaim against my neighbour or will work I require be covered if he has insurance...he may have taken out insurance prior to the building problems being highlighted.

Didnl;t know where else to ask hence the post. I should say I live in Scotland so our laws may be different up here. However any advice at all would be useful Before i take teh matter further.

Thanks
Bryan

To make a claim against your neighbour you would have to prove they have been negligent.
If they let the bath overflow while filling it, that would be quite easy.
If a dishwasher or washing machine developed a fault without warning and caused the flood, it would be difficult to prove negligence.

Do you have contents cover at all? That would cover any damage to furnishings and possessions but not the fabric of the building.
