To get Jsa Contribution based, you must have been in employed (not self employed work) and been paying National Insurance for the whole of the last 2 tax years, I think they are currently looking up to April 2004. It doesn't matter how many hours you were working as long as sufficient NI has been paid. This lasts for 182 days (6 mths)
For Jsa Income based, it is means tested, so purely looks at all income, so if you have a partner who works over 24 hours per week or savings over £8k you will not qualify. This is indefinite.
