This statement raises a question!
As stated earlier, your problem is not consumption at night - indeed it is low.
However your quote above implies that you use electrical heating during the day??
Electrical heating of any type will use huge amounts of electricity and that alone could account for your high consumption.0 -
You use slightly more than the UK average electricity(which is 3,300kWh) and 40% more gas than the UK average(20,500kWh)
Given the average UK household now pays over £1,000 a year for gas and electricity, it would appear that £104 a month would be about right - even a little on the low side.
I received my end of year bill today from EDF and was horrified to discover that it was £625 i pay £110 a month so was left with £356 to pay.
i decided to switch to scottish power and did this online .However reading your post has worried me as you say they are raising their prices .Could you please tell me how much their prices are giong to be per KWh as i have seven days to cool off and i may find that with the price increase i may be wasting my time .Many thanks0 -

I didn't say anything about Scottish power raising their prices - it was Lynne in Post#19!
I believe they announced rises of 15% for Gas and 14% for electricity earlier this month; I assume those are the rises she meant.
You would have to contact SP for their new prices as it varies by tariff and the part of the country in which you live.0 -
Cardew - Thanks for your reply.
Fairyqueen - I understand from Scottish Power that the kwh offered to me are for existing customers only - for interest these are:
Gas 3.462 / 2.630
Elec 12.484 / 6.984
But it does depend where you live.
As a matter of interest what have they offered you as a new customer.0 -

Indeed, did you bother to read posts 18 and 21. You don't really seem that interested in finding out what is consuming more than three times the national average usage! We can only help if you supply more information and we would like to get to the bottom of this. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
If there IS something wrong with your meter -and taking into account that EDF are insisting that there isn't....Why not ask they to take you off the E7 meter which will presumably mean they will remove the meter and reset the other one. That might solve the issue.
I found switching to all energy saving bulbs made a massive difference to my bills too so any that you haven't replaced-consider doing so. When my dishwasher broke my bills plummeted too-so I never bothered getting it fixedI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Yes I did read that post, and I will do it, but with a rather busy weekend ahead it's likely to be monday before I can do it. And I have already arranged to have the meter changed......Debt-free...and staying that way...0 -

Hi they quoted
16.574 for the first 225 per quarter
then 10.056 for the rest of daytime units
then 4.302 for night time units
which is a lot less than i was paying with edf
however this may change if as you say they put up their prices0
