interest on credit cards

Hi all has anyone got any ideas on this or advice
A&L has just double my interest rate from 18% to 34% without first contacting me, also i have stop direct debit so they would talk to me but all they have done is contact a debt collector who rings every two days, i have written to the MG of A&L all he's has done is past letter onto his customer service dept im still waiting for an answer two months.
also they keep changing my direct debit date and when my banks declindes d/b i get charged fees. any ideas

Go to the nearest A&L bank and speak with a personal bank advisor and say how sorry you were for accidently stopping the DD/payments and "How much do I owe you since this mishap"? and pay them and hope they still have you as a customer.
Have the DD reinstated to a date that suits you and the branch and that way you will be able to repair your credit with A&L,if you don't you will have no credit from anyone it is as simple as that.
One you have repair the above issues then think about the APR rate and how to tackle that problem.
Stop writing letters and get down there and talk to someone .

unfortunatly i have been to seen an advisor they wont help as its an mbna card, i have contacted mbna they say its for a&l to sort, so im going around in circles. the d/b was on a special day and cancelled by them so that why i posted this question
