Cheap Sunday car parking in central Crdiff wanted please

We are going to a concert in St David's Hall this Sunday evening and thought we'd travel down earlier and visit the museum, have lunch, go shopping etc.

But car parking is SO expensive in Cardiff.

Can anyone suggest somewhere we can park for a good number of hours and which won't cost the earth please?

I usually park somewhere in Pontcanna, off Cathedral Road, and then just walk along the river into town. If it's dry it's quite pleasant.

The parking prices are indeed high now, so I never ever ever ever ever pay them. I usually cycle. Sometimes I use the train. Sometimes I drive and park outside the charging zone. Sometimes my wife is with me and she's got a blue badge.

what do you class as expensive? i wouldnt say cardiff was any more expensive for parking than any other major uk city.

avoid the NCPs, which have had a lot of bad publicity for their price hikes, and you'll be fine.

in a short stay pay and display zone, up to 5hours parking will cost you £3. in a long stay P&D zone, up to 10 hours will cost you £3 (see PDF here for more pricing info). it could be a hell of a lot worse.... when pay and dsplay was first introduced in the city, you were loking at £5 a time. i dont think £3 is that unreasonable in comparisson.

  • There is a large pay and display outdoor car park opposite the prison, just before the railway bridge in Adam Street, I think it's £1 an hour. Definitely cheaper than the multi-storeys. Pay and Display are good but spaces are limited.

I went to a concert in the St Davids hall last night and parked outside the police station. I expected to have to pay (a couple of £) but after 6pm its free. I wasnt sure so I had DH go in and ask the lady on the desk at the police station. Sundays are free all day so as long as you can find a space you're laughing. Other car parks that are free on a Sunday include The Castle Mews and North Road car park (both located along the left of North Road when heading north).
