I stear clear of registry cleaners.

Thats not to say I dont delete parts I do it manual and know what I am deleting.

True, it's easy to figure out how to clean HKLM\Software and HKCU\Software, but this is unlikely to solve any problem :( I do it as well just for the sake of keeping it tidy, but I'm not convinced it results in any noticeable performance difference.

*EDIT* Ok, I admit, I do use a registry cleaner but only when needed. I use Registry First Aid. But it's not free. But it never gave me a problem and can solve issues (albeit it's not a magic wand). If you do use a registry cleaner, make sure you create and keep backups!

I've just run cccleaner and run some other clean-up operations (Ad-Aware, etc.). Also deleted a few programmes I never use like Sony Picture Utility/Quicktime, etc. which took up a lot of space.

No extra memory unfortunately (confused-smiley-013.gif) and haven't noticed any difference in speed, nice to know my p.c.'s "cleaner" though!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've got a feeling getting rid of Norton may make a difference, though I won't be doing this 'til the year end as I've paid for it rolleyes.gif

Many thanks to all for the interesting and useful replies.
