Please Help - Insurer trying to rip me off!

Hi

Would love some advice from peeps if any1 can help.

Renewed my car insurance with Swift last July...they took payment from my card details on recrd and then i recievd confirmation of insurance a few days later.

this week i recieve letter from them syaing the policy hasnt been paid. spoke to call centre who said card didnt go through as out of date. took 7 months for them to contact me, even logged onto online page to print off documents back in december, but no previous correspondance or warning from swift.

now they are demanding the full premium amount. took over half an hour and supervisors later to arrange a repayment plan which is still extortionate and they stated that i cannot insure with them again.

willing to work with them to sort this out, but surely there needs to be a bit of give on there part as they rpovided me with the insurance confirmation and details after renewal and dont contact me until 7months later...

please help!!!!

You don't say how you are being ripped off?

If they still want the same premium, there's no rip off is there?

Just pay them what they originally asked for.

I'm afraid its tough. You have got away with not paying the premium since July and have earned interest on that payment so you are financially better off.

You knew it wasnt paid so you cannot complain of hardship.

Sounds like another case of 50/50 blame to me. They are partly to blame as I agree with you they should have got in touch sooner about the failed payment. BUT I also think you should take some responsibility. Don't people check their incomings/out goings? Didn't you realise you were £X better off and that a payment hadn't gone from your account?

Sorry, can't offer more advice except keep a closer eye on your accounts in future.
