Help Am seriously concerned about holiday booking made online

Hi Can anyone help me have just booked holiday for in laws on the thomson website and it kept rejecting in laws credit card when I finally booked it, the confirmation showed the total cost of holiday as 1060 and the outstanding balance remaining to pay as over £2000.

Am really concerned as am wondering if because it rejected credit card could I have booked holiday twice?

I haven't got a confirmation e mail and have tried calling thomson but no answer.

If I have made a dreadful mistake is there a cooling off period with internet purchases.

I can't go to sleep now as am really worried this has cost my in laws?

any help greatly appreciated

if it rejected the card, it should not charge it at all. I personally don't think you have anything to worry about, and sometimes it can take a while for confirmation emails to come through..

you state the figures of £1060 and £2000, are these the right figures? if so, then that is that trip booked, if not, you will need to sort that out!

you can't call anyone now, so relax, have a good nights sleep, and give them a call tomorrow just to double check.

Iim assuming you weren't expecting the outstanding balance to be that much? I'm not sure on the ins and outs of the law regarding internet purchases.

I will say that you won't be able to do anything now anyway, so try get a good nights sleep :D Call Thomsons at the first chance you get tomorrow. See how you get on with them. If its a misunderstanding or a technical error then I'm sure you can sort it with them.

If they are not playing ball, come back tomorrow and I'm sure people will be able to give you the advice you need.

  • I had this happen with airline network. The card was rejected 3 times but the money had been taken 3 times ! I phoned them up and got the money back no problem. Seems was a computer error.
